Google maps latitude real time updating

Is it possible to use Google Maps to track moving items?I had worked with Google Maps and markers before, but I had never built a demo that included “live” markers that could move.Interestingly enough, Google envisions these updates being most useful when planning a surprise birthday party.I’ve been a fan of the Google Map API for some time now.

Ideally, this will provide Google Maps users with a handy way to let their friends know how close, or far away, they are from a rendez-vous — and just how late they really will be.

The reason is that this constant sending of location data can wear down mobile phone batteries much quicker.

Many service that update location in the background instead tend to ping towers to see if you’ve moved periodically.

When you’re sharing your location, the people you’ve chosen to share with will see you on their map.

And you’ll see an icon above the compass on your own map reminding you that you’re actively sharing your location.
